The primary duty of the expert witness in written reports and oral evidence is to the Court.
Topping Partnership believes that the expert accountant discharges that duty by reporting on the basis of the underlying accounting and financial evidence. It is not for the expert accountant to make speculative assessments of possible loss - that is for the lawyers and the Court.
Topping Partnership’s reports, based on the accounting evidence, are objective, realistic, and accordingly are the best means of assisting the parties to agree settlement. In the rare cases where settlement is not possible, the Topping Partnership team has the expertise and experience to give oral evidence that is readily accepted by the Courts.
Hence the work of the expert accountant is essentially to
- Investigate - to ascertain the extent and nature of the underlying evidence.
- Evaluate - to analyse the evidence and assess recoverable on the basis of that evidence.
- Communicate – to convey our findings, conclusions and calculations in a report that is easy to read and to understand
Topping Partnership is renowned for its short, authoritative and persuasive reports.
Typically, instructions in litigated cases arise in connection with claims resulting from
- Personal injury
- Fatal accidents
- Business interruption arising from damage to assets, etc
